The government of Iran arrested 9 members of the British Embassy accusing them of taking part in anti-goverment demonstrations after they were filmed by a secret camera that had been placed, unbeknownst to embassy members, inside the British embassy,

Last week Iran and Britain each expelled two diplomats and Iran has recalled its ambassador to Great Britain, an act considered extremely serious in diplomatic circles.

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah  Ali Khamenei issued a statement calling the British government the most treacherous in the world.

According to sources at the Daily Mail, photos obtained by another British newspaper, the Evening Standard, showed pictures of British embassy staff taking part in the demonstrations. The camera, pictured here, was placed in an attic window and trained on the street.

Britain has accused Iran of "harrassment and intimidation" in response to the arrests. Britsh Foreign Secretary MIllband has lodged a protest and called the arrests "unacceptable" but has not gotten a response from the Iranian government .

As tensions increase between Iran and other European countries Obama remains essentially on the sidelines, continuing to issue standard statements of condemnation against violence though Ahmadinejad also accused Obama of meddling in Iran's election.

Obama has had no comment to date about the arrests of the members of the British embassy.
